Associate Director ‑ BSPM

Circa. £30k – £40K (depending on experience), performance related bonus, professional fees paid

  • Provide a professional advisory service, embracing all areas of Building Surveying and Project Management and taking into account of the wider Sircle service offer across the business.
  • To support the compliance team when required and carry out Fire Safety surveying services offered by Sircle.
  • To assist and deliver the full range of Building Surveying and Project Management services carried out by Sircle, including but not limited to: Feasibility reports
    • Specifications / schedule of works
    • Issuing tender documents
    • Running competitive tenders
    • Managing multiple projects at the same time
    • Producing contract documents
    • Review and approving interim payments
    • Managing change control
    • Produce risk register
    • Attend progress meetings
    • Condition Surveys
    • Building defect analysis and remediation strategies
    • Life Cycle / Planned Preventative Maintenance surveys
  • To support in the delivery of the full range of Fire Safety surveying services conducted by Sircle, including but not limited to:
    • Passive fire safety surveying – Conducting site-based inspections of passive fire protection measures including Fire doors, compartmentation, fire stopping and other fire protection elements within buildings
    • Pre and post work inspections
    • Provide reports – highlighting any remedial action required and define solutions to any issues identified
    • Ensure the health and safety of colleagues, customers, and the public on all projects
    • Good knowledge of technical standards, fire related guidance, British Standards, and fire safety legislation
    • Work collaboratively across the business to ensure we have an integrated approach to service delivery, quality, and client focus
    • To assist on the operational use of software and provide recommendations to feed into IT strategic plans and reviews.
  • Experience with defect analysis / building pathology and advising on remediation strategies
  • Strong specification writing skills
  • Experience of assessing risk management throughout projects
  • Experience in compiling specification documents using NBS software
  • Good understanding of JCT Contracts
  • Undertaking various types of building surveys i.e. Schedules of Condition / PPMs
  • Experience in delivering the role of Contract Administrator
  • An understanding of Project Management
  • Knowledge of Approved Document B, British Standards and guidance relating to fire safety
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and regulations
  • Clean driving license
  • Ability to extract relevant data and provide clear and concise reports for others. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, in a clear, articulate, and persuasive manner.

  • Relevant Building Surveying or Construction qualification at degree level.
  • Experience in the role of Project Manager

  • Understanding Compartmentation/Passive fire surveying/fire stopping requirements
  • Experience in the passive fire protection industry with knowledge of the systems and how they should be installed.
  • Broader knowledge of statutory compliance and related legislation
  • Understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Knowledge and passion of the use of technology to gather fire safety and building fabric information
  • Latent Defect surveys
  • Fire Risk Assessments

  • Fire Strategy principles, drawings, and design
  • Other forms of construction contract. i.e. NEC
