Purpose of the Role
As a Fire Safety Consultant, you will play a vital supporting role in delivering high-quality fire safety consultancy services. Working closely with experienced fire safety professionals. You will assist the team in conducting fire risk assessments, fire compartmentation surveys, fire door inspections, and review of retrospective fire strategies as well as supporting strategic fire safety planning across a range of sectors including high-rise residential, sheltered housing and healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of fire risk assessments in accordance with PAS 79 and applicable UK legislation.
- Support fire compartmentation and fire door surveys, including on-site inspections and reporting.
- Collate data and prepare clear, concise, and accurate technical reports.
- Assist colleagues in fire strategy development and compliance reviews.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders across the UK, maintaining a professional and helpful approach.
- Attend project sites nationwide – travel and occasional overnight stays will be required.
- Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation, guidance, and industry best practice.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Sales Expertise and Results Orientation
- A relevant qualification in Fire Safety such as a degree or Level 3 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment
- A strong interest in fire safety consultancy and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational and time management abilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work across the UK, sometimes at short notice.
- Maintenance of competence through CPD.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Minimum of IFE level 3/4 qualification in fire safety (Or equivalent)
- Minimum of tier 2 fire risk assessor (Or equivalent)
- Self-motivated
- Familiarity with legislation such as the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 21, Fire Safety (England) Regs 22 and the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Awareness of standards such as BS 9999, BS 9991, HTM 05-02, and PAS 9980.
- Understanding of Retrospective Fire Strategies
Desirable Attributes
- Knowledge or experience of high-rise residential buildings and hospital fire safety standards.
- Tier 3 fire risk assessor (Or equivalent)
- FDIS diploma (or equivalent)
- Formal qualification in passive fire protection training (AFSP or equivalent)
- Experience working in residential and healthcare environments
- Competent in developing fire strategies.
